At Hand and Tool, we believe that every thread carries meaning — and every stitch is an act of memory, love, and resistance.
The Roots Collection (جذور) was born from a deep longing to stay connected to our homeland, to honor our mothers and grandmothers, and to celebrate the cultural richness woven into every inch of Palestinian embroidery.
But this isn’t just a story of fabric and design.
It’s a story of people. Of women. Of roots.
Why We Created Roots
In a world that often pulls us far from where we began, Roots (جذور) is our way of holding on — to identity, to tradition, and to each other. These shawls carry ancient motifs, inspired by Palestinian villages, plants, and patterns passed down through generations.
The collection is a reminder that our roots don’t just ground us — they nourish us.
They help us bloom.
Crafted by 30 Palestinian Women
Behind every shawl is the effort, heart, and heritage of 30 Palestinian women — each one a guardian of traditional Tatreez (تطريز). From northern villages to southern towns, they came together in unity, patience, and pride to create this collection.
Some are mothers teaching their daughters.
Some are young women keeping their ancestors’ art alive.
All of them are artists in their own right.
When you buy a shawl from the Roots Collection, you’re not just purchasing a product.
You're investing in their stories, their hands, and their futures.
Slow Fashion with Deep Meaning
Every shawl is made by hand, using the slow, intentional process of traditional embroidery. We don’t rush — because beauty takes time, and culture deserves care.
Your support of the Roots Collection means:
- Supporting 30 Palestinian women artisans
- Preserving endangered cultural heritage
- Encouraging ethical, handmade, meaningful fashion
Wear Your Roots. Carry Your Story.
